The emergenCITY Mission Heinerblock, which was launched this year, is researching the transformation of a Darmstadt neighbourhood into a so-called superblock. With a new traffic concept, the City of Science Darmstadt is working on the transformation of the Lichtenbergviertel into the Heinerblock and emergenCITY is supporting this process. In addition to social questions about how such a transformation in the neighbourhood can be designed inclusively and integratively with the local population, emergenCITY is accompanying the transformation with sensor boxes that can provide the local population with data on, for example, noise pollution and air quality in their neighbourhood.

During a forum at the Heiner Lehr Centre, emergenCITY coordinator Matthias Hollick met recently with politicians, planners and the local population to discuss the Heinerblock project. On the occasion of this event, André Heuwinkel published on September 15th a detailed report on the status and outlook of the project in the regional newspaper Darmstädter Echo.
