emergenCITY is researching solutions to expand the communication infrastructure in the event of a crisis and make it more resilient. In this context, the LOEWE Center is developing the advertising pillar 4.0 together with the cooperation partner Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH. The aim is to expand existing advertising pillars so that they can be used as warning multipliers. In the event of crises or disasters, they can inform the population.

The unique selling point of the advertising pillar 4.0 is that it can remain in operation for a further 72 hours even in the event of a large-scale power outage. Another cooperation partner has now been acquired in the form of SFC Energy AG. The fuel cell manufacturer from Brunnthal near Munich is a leading provider of hydrogen and methanol fuel cells for stationary, portable and mobile hybrid power supply solutions.

SFC Energy AG is supplying a methanol fuel cell for the construction of the prototype. This is what makes the energy self-sufficient operation of the advertising pillar 4.0 possible in the first place.

The plan is to start testing a prototype of the advertising pillar 4.0 at Riegerplatz Darmstadt in 2025.
