How does a power-operated information display on an advertising pillar work even in the event of a lasting power outage? And what information can sensor boxes provide about their location? The advertising pillar 4.0 and the sensor boxes from emergenCITY were met with great interest at InnoDay 2024, the networking day organized by HIGHEST, the Innovation and Start-up Center of TU Darmstadt, at darmstadtium in Darmstadt. Visitors talked to emergenCITY scientist Frank Hessel and emergenCITY laboratory engineer Julian Euler about the two demonstrators presented, asking about how they work and the pending local test deployments in Darmstadt’s Martinsviertel district.
In addition, the two scientists, Managing Director Katharina Kleinschnitger and student assistants Lea Spiess and Janila Dierks emphasized the importance of emergenCITY’s topic of resilience in digital cities. What does resilience mean, and what can it look like in the event of a disaster? What are other directions and ideas that emergenCITY is researching? Resilience in a greater perspective is part of the public discourse, it is attracting interest, and emergenCITY’s general expertise in this area is in demand. With many inspiring discussions and new contacts under its belt, InnoDay 2024 came to a successful end for emergenCITY.
