The advertising pillar 4.0 is an ongoing research collaboration between emergenCITY and Ströer Media Deutschland GmbH. Together with the leading provider of regional online and outdoor advertising, emergenCITY wants to adapt existing advertising pillars so that they can be used additionally as warning multipliers. In the event of a crisis or a disaster, they could spread information among the population. The unique selling point of the advertising pillar 4.0 is its capacity to continue operation for a further 72 hours even in the event of a large-scale power outage thanks to the integration of photovoltaics and battery storage into the pillar.
The LOEWE Center emergenCITY has now been able to win over two further important municipal partners for the advertising pillar 4.0 project: Darmstadt Marketing GmbH and the Darmstadt fire department. Both have pledged their full support for our project. As the administrator of the city’s advertising pillars, Darmstadt Marketing GmbH had already given its approval for the installation of the prototype. The Darmstadt fire department is closely involved in the technical development to enable communication between the fire department control center and the advertising pillar 4.0. At the end of the year, a prototype of the advertising pillar 4.0 is planned to be installed and tested at Riegerplatz in Darmstadt.
