The research of the LOEWE center emergenCITY, a research cooperation under the leadership of TU Darmstadt, is to be consolidated through the establishment of a national center for digital resilience in disasters in Darmstadt. Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser and Hesse’s Digital Minister Prof. Dr. Kristina Sinemus have now signed a letter of intent to establish the first national center for digital resilience in disasters in Darmstadt, as the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Hessian Digital Ministry announced today. The aim is to sustainably strengthen the resilience of digital infrastructures to crises and disasters. Construction is set to begin in the coming months.
“Since 2020, we have been researching resilient digital solutions in emergenCITY to prepare cities for crises. We are delighted that our expertise is in demand at the planned center for digital resilience and that our research will contribute important findings on the topic of digital resilience,” said Matthias Hollick, scientific coordinator of the LOEWE center emergenCITY. “We will now increasingly transfer the results of our research into application,” added Michèle Knodt, designated co-director of the Digital Resilience Xchange (DiReX) transfer center, which is currently being founded and will also be based at TU Darmstadt.
